Technology

The right technology for the right indication.

Technology is never the starting point. The concern is assessed, the strategy is decided, and only then is the platform chosen - which is why the same technology appears under more than one indication here, and why two patients asking for the same thing rarely receive the same treatment.

Facial lifting & rejuvenation

Which technology is chosen depends on where the change sits: the skin's own firmness, the deeper support, or the contour beneath it.

  • Endolift X

    How we use it

Precision laser-assisted lifting for selected facial and contour concerns.

Endolift is not a treatment I recommend simply because a patient asks for lifting. I first assess the degree and pattern of laxity, skin quality, facial structure, tissue position and the patient’s expectations. I then decide whether Endolift is likely to provide a meaningful improvement, or whether another approach would be more appropriate. The technology is chosen after the face is assessed — not the other way around.

  • Sylfirm X

    How we use it

Precision RF for complex skin concerns.

I don’t use Sylfirm X simply as a skin-tightening treatment. What interests me about Sylfirm X is its versatility. When I assess a patient, I am rarely looking at just one problem: pigmentation may coexist with redness, acne scars with enlarged pores. Sylfirm X gives me the ability to approach different skin concerns using radiofrequency in different ways, rather than treating every patient with one standard protocol.

  • Thermage FLX

    How we use it

Non-invasive monopolar RF for selected skin-firming and contouring goals.

Thermage is one of the technologies I may consider when the primary concern is skin quality and selected degrees of laxity, particularly when a patient is looking for a non-invasive treatment. I do not recommend Thermage simply because a patient wants tightening: I first assess skin quality, laxity, facial structure and the degree of change that is realistically achievable. In some faces, another technology may be more appropriate. The decision is based on what I see clinically, not on the machine available.

  • Ultraformer MPT

    How we use it

Micro- and macro-focused ultrasound for selected lifting and contouring indications.

Ultraformer is considered when focused ultrasound energy is appropriate for the patient’s anatomy and treatment goal. Before recommending it, I assess where the laxity is, the quality and thickness of the tissue, facial structure, and whether the patient needs lifting, contouring or another form of treatment. Not every face that asks for tightening needs ultrasound: in some patients RF, laser, Endolift or a combination makes more sense. The treatment is selected according to the face, not according to a fixed protocol.

Pigmentation

The type and depth of pigment, and the skin type it sits in, decide which wavelength is appropriate - and how gently it is used.

  • Fotona SP Dynamis Max

    How we use it

One laser platform, several wavelengths, selected according to the clinical indication.

Fotona gives me access to different laser wavelengths and treatment approaches, which means its role is not limited to one concern. I consider laser treatment only after assessing what is contributing to the patient’s concern — pigmentation, vascular change, texture, rejuvenation or another indication. The important part is choosing the appropriate wavelength, delivery and strategy for the individual skin rather than treating every patient with the same laser approach. Laser treatment should be precise, purposeful and indication-led.

  • Fotona StarWalker

    How we use it

Laser treatment for sun spots, uneven tone, post-acne marks and tattoos.

Pigmentation and vascular concerns require diagnosis before treatment. I first assess the type and pattern of pigmentation, skin type, associated redness or vascular change, previous treatment and the likelihood of recurrence. StarWalker may be considered when its laser capabilities are appropriate for the specific indication, and the wavelength and treatment approach are selected according to the patient’s skin and the clinical problem. A laser is a tool. The diagnosis and treatment plan come first.

Skin quality & texture

Texture, pores, hydration and radiance respond to different treatments, layered over time rather than delivered at once.

  • Dermapen 4

    Medical microneedling to stimulate collagen.

  • Exosomes

A regenerative treatment, used alongside in-clinic procedures.

  • Fotona SP Dynamis Max

  • GFC

Growth factor concentrate, prepared from your own blood, for hair and skin.

  • Hydrafacial

Cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration in a single treatment.

I use Hydrafacial as a skin-conditioning treatment within a medical dermatology practice, not simply as a spa facial. Before recommending it, I consider the patient’s skin condition, sensitivity, congestion, hydration and immediate skin goals. For some patients it may be useful on its own; for others it forms part of a broader skin-quality programme. Even a maintenance treatment should begin with an understanding of the skin.

  • OxyGeneo

An exfoliation, infusion and oxygenation facial.

  • Plasmapen

Plasma energy for small lesions and delicate areas such as the eyelids.

  • SkinPen

    Microneedling for texture and scarring.

  • Sylfirm X

    How we use it

Precision RF for complex skin concerns.

Acne & scarring

Active acne is settled first. Scar treatment is then matched to the type of scar, which is rarely only one.

Hair & scalp

In-clinic treatment supports the follicles while the cause of the hair loss is treated medically.

  • Exosomes

A regenerative treatment, used alongside in-clinic procedures.

  • GFC

Growth factor concentrate, prepared from your own blood, for hair and skin.

Hair removal

The wavelength and settings are chosen for the skin type and the hair, which matters most in darker skin.

  • GentleYAG

    How we use it

Laser hair reduction suited to darker skin types.

Body & contour

Fat, laxity and skin texture contribute differently in each patient, so the order of treatment is decided at assessment.
