Why I don’t treat every face that asks for tightening

Tightening is not a diagnosis. What I look at before deciding whether any energy treatment is appropriate - and when the answer is none at all.

Patients often come to me asking for skin tightening.

But “tightening” is not a diagnosis.

Before deciding what treatment to use, I look at the quality of the skin, the degree and direction of laxity, facial structure, tissue distribution and what the patient actually wants to change.

Only then do I decide whether radiofrequency, ultrasound, laser, a minimally invasive approach — or sometimes no energy treatment at all — is appropriate.

It is a slower conversation than naming a machine. It is also the reason the result tends to look like the patient, rather than like a treatment.
